Clean, Safe Water!

06 March 2024 / By Gareth

With the cholera outbreak in Zambia spreading across the country in January, it became an urgent priority for us to complete the clean water project at Nkolonga Rural Health Post to ensure that clean water was made available to the staff and patients at the clinic as soon as possible. It was was several weeks of hard work but we were delighted to be able to finally commission the project and the solar pump system has been supplying clean, safe water to the clinic and patients as well as to the homes of the clinic staff for the past 3 weeks!

Our main sponsor for this project was nearby Mushibemba Conservacy who gave the funds that made this project possible. We also want to thank Andrew and Coral Moffat who provided the tank stand, building materials and a team from their farm to get the job done.

We also want to thank Chengelo School who provided a plumber and builder as well as material support at critical times. Finally we want to thank the Chengelo Grade 4 class of 2022 who, along with several other individual donors, raised the necessary funds for the drilling of the 50m deep borehole! This really was a big group effort and we are delighted to have finally got it done.

No longer will expectant mothers have to bring a bucket of water with them when they come to the health post to give birth! Now staff and patients have clean water to drink and wash with! The availability of clean water at the health post will have a massive positive impact on this community. Thank you to each and every person involved in making it happen!
